Shop Mechanic

Position Summary:

This position reports directly to the Lead Mechanic. Shop Mechanic works with Lead Mechanic to perform bus repairs. Duties of a Shop Mechanic include inspecting and performing work repair to make sure standards have been met, using diagnostic equipment to repair, conducting road tests, and maintaining repair equipment.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

·        Follow all Company policies and procedures

·        Perform repair work on vehicles such as breakdowns, malfunctions, and emergency roadside repair in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.

·        Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturers specifications including engines, transmissions and clutches, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition(gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, etc.

·        Follow paper-flow procedures including documenting correct mileage/hours, save and tag all warranty and core parts, document all repairs on work order using DVIR’s, cause, and correction format, follow parts ordering/billing procedures(BusHive software, other).

·        Perform final operational test on all vehicles to quality-check all repair

·        Ensure that company vehicles and area are kept cleaned after repair is completed

·        Work in a safe manner, per company, local, state and federal policies and regulations

  • Any other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

·        Experience with tour coach buses

·        Reliable

·        Self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision, team player

·        Organized, manages time, performs well under pressure

  • Minimum of two years related experience
  • Able to conduct CHP & DOT inspections
  • Valid Driver’s License to operate applicable company vehicles
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations
  • Ability to work any schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Computer skills, ability to learn and work with different software
  • Ability to read and speak English. Spanish preferred as a second language
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to frequently lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 100 pounds
  • Some travel may be required
  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • ASE Certifications (Including Master-T)
  • Trade school diploma or certification
  • Commercial Driver’s License Class B, airbrakes and passenger endorsement
