ATTENDANT RESPONSIBITIES
The attendant plays a key role in providing assistants to the Driver.
· Must report to the office at 6am, the supervisor will assign your route. (your job may vary each day)
· Unless assigned to a specific client that is seated at the front of the bus, the attendant will sit in the middle or rear of the bus.
· The attendant must step out of the vehicle to assist client when entering/exiting of the vehicle. The driver will remain inside the bus, standing at the top of the steps to assist client(s) and the attendant during this process.
· The attendant will keep the driver informed of any incident that requires the driver’s attention. The attendant is also responsible for assisting maintaining order inside the vehicle.
· The attendant will assist the driver with loading/unloading the wheelchairs. Also, will assist in securing the wheel chair inside the vehicle. But it is the driver’s responsibility to make sure the wheelchair(s) are tight and secure. Doublecheck the straps are tight and secured to the wheelchair and the wheel chair bracket.
· While on the bus the attendant is in the direction of the Driver.
· Attendant will complete Consumer/Route Daily Report at the end of the day.
· Must stay off their cell phones while on the bus.
· Must help the driver with cleaning the interior and exterior of the bus.
· Must not carrier any personal conversions with the participants.
· Must not share any personal information with the participant.
· Must Not curse in front of the participant.
· Must not lay hands on the participant at any time, unless to assist from them falling.
An attendant is a valuable resource for the driver and therefore it is important for the attendant to be alert and work together with the driver.
